Dr. Gachassin, a native of Lafayette, LA completed his Surgical Training in Mobile AL, at the University of South Alabama. He earned his Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. He is a graduate of St. Thomas More High School in Lafayette, LA. Dr. Gachassin performs a wide array of surgical services, and specializes in Minimally Invasive and Advanced Laparoscopic Techniques. Common procedures performed by Dr. Gachassin are laparoscopic/minimally invasive hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and colon resection. Dr. Gachassin provides surgical treatment of Breast Cancer and focuses on Breast conserving therapy. Dr. Gachassin also specializes in the surgical treatment of obesity through laparoscopic/minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Gachassin is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is a member of the American Society of General Surgeons as well as a member of the American Medical Association and the Louisiana State Medical Society. He is currently a member of the Lafayette General Surgical Hospital Medical Executive Committee, and is the President of the Medical Staff at Lafayette General Medical Center.
