A native of Lafayette, Dr. Carroll earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his general surgery residency at LSU Medical Center, also in New Orleans. Dr. Carroll is a board certified General Surgeon with a teaching appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at LSU Department of Surgery. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds memberships in the American College of Surgeons, the Louisiana State Medical Society, Lafayette Parish Medical Society; Southeastern Surgical Congress, Surgical Association of Louisiana, James D. Rives Surgical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, American Society of General Surgeons, and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He serves on the Lafayette General Medical Center Membership Corporation and as Medical Director and Chairman of the Clinical Credentials and Privileges Committee at Lafayette General Surgical Hospital.
