Dr. Blem earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his internship at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga and his ophthalmology residency at Medical College of Virginia. He completed a fellowship in medical and surgical retina and served as clinical professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Vitreoretinal Surgery. He is a member of the New Orleans Society of Ophthalmology, Virginia Society of Ophthalmology, and American Medical Association and has contributed to numerous publications and research papers. In addition, he serves as Chief of Surgery at Lafayette General Surgical Hospital.
